I was apalled on reading this news snippet on the Times of India (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Lone\minister\represents\govt\at\Manekshaws\_funeral/articleshow/3173797.cms)

How sad is this situation that a Warrior of the stature of Field Marshal [[Sam Manekshaw ]] was sent off on his final farewell without appropriate representation by the Indian Leadership (including the Supreme Commander in Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, the Indian President).

I genuinely doubt whether this would have been the case had Prof. [[Abdul Kalam]] been the Indian President. I have absolutely nothing against Mrs. Patil, but this was one of the few things she had to do as part of her formal duties.

I mean, there have been only two titles of [[Field Marshal]] awarded since India's Independence (Gen Cariappa was the other recipient). Doesn't that at least elicit the presence of the current C-i-C of the Indian Military?

Disgusting!
