The confused mind thrown hither and thither
In life, alone yet seeking here one and there another
Where it may project its own self
And then dwell like a reflection in the mirror
True to life, yet not alive…
So is the mind true, or the reflection?
For the mind to be the observer,
The observed
And the observation– all in one –
Is a tough task indeed,
Perhaps the toughest of all deeds:
Is not the Almighty unkind
To expect this of the poor fickle mind?
For when it is thrown about hither and thither
How can it know which is itself and which the other?
So the Almighty brought solace
Through reflection, in times of solitude.
